From Grandfather to Grandchildren: The Music of Ernest Kaye

This EP tells the story of prolific musical talent passing down the generations. Rising stars Mark Nathan (baritone), Carolyn Holt (mezzo soprano) and Simon Nathan (orchestrator) bring largely unknown works from Ernest Kaye’s vast œuvre to life with the support of the exuberant playing of the Britten Sinfonia, conducted by Tony Purser. The tracks take us on a journey from the blooming shores of Tresco to intricate settings of Shakespeare and haunting Hebrew laments.

Ernest Kaye was an outstanding pianist who had an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of classical music. He was passionate about playing the piano and passionate about composing.

CRD is delighted to be working with the Kaye family on bring this astonishing repertoire to listeners.
