The Chopin Connection Vol. II – Mathilde de Rothschild and Frédéric Chopin

CRD Records is proud to present the second volume of The Chopin Connection, performed by pianist Inbar Rothschild. Following Volume I’s restoration of Charlotte de Rothschild’s authorship, this companion release completes a vital narrative of historical stewardship by spotlighting her remarkable relative, Mathilde de Rothschild (1832–1924).

Designed for both the devoted scholar and the casual listener, the album pairs Mathilde’s charming, long-overlooked miniatures with the monumental Chopin works that share their creative DNA—from the rhythmic vitality of the Mazurkas to the crowning glory of the Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61. Mathilde’s music offers a rare, tangible link to the teaching and performance tradition of her mentor, Frédéric Chopin, shedding new light on the vibrant creative traffic of the historic Rothschild salon.

This release also proudly marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of legendary pianist Alfred Cortot, celebrating his poetic legacy through Inbar Rothschild’s direct pianistic lineage as a student of Cortot’s celebrated pupil, Pnina Salzman. Together, these works invite listeners to experience the intangible spirit of a magnificent musical inheritance brought beautifully to life.
