Virtuoso Harpsichord Music

In her debut album, Melody Lin offers splendid musical fireworks, taking on some of the most technically challenging and arresting harpsichord repertoire available.

The harpsichord often gets overlooked, undeservedly so. It is an instrument that takes no prisoners; it demands precision and craft, musical sensitivity and more. In Melody Lin’s performances, the rewards are great: as listeners, we are treated to the translation of black dots to bursts of exuberant colour, from elegance to joy to thunderous expressions of foreboding. If the music were to be represented in film, we would move from calm, pastoral scenes to mountainous terrain. This is in fact riveting cinema. We hope you enjoy the views.

Full global and digital release, including in Dolby Atmos, on 3 May, 2024.

“The music performed by Melody on the present recording comprises a painstaking selection of technically exacting pieces that span the entire period of Baroque harpsichord composition as well as an array of genres and styles. The title Virtuoso Harpsichord Music is fully warranted here; each of the works performed contains at least one intimidating passage or section that would be the source of consternation for most harpsichordists.” – Robert Zappulla, Professor of Music, Claremont Graduate University, California
